Spring Dog Activity and Resident By-law Awareness
Spring like weather conditions have resulted in an increase in the number of complaints being received by the Municipality regarding dogs running at large and other similar offences.
Our Dog Control By-law 37-2009 states:
- No owner of a dog shall permit his or her dog to run at large within the Municipality of Lambton Shores at any time. Any dog found running at large may be seized and impounded. An owner can redeem his or her dog after payment of the appropriate fines (minimum $101.00) and the associated Humane Society fees (telephone # 519-344-7064). If, after the expiration of the redemption period, a dog has not been claimed, the Humane Society may find an alternative home, or if necessary, humanely euthanize and cremate the dog.
- No owner of a dog shall fail to keep his or her dog leashed when not on the owner's property.
- No person shall fail to remove excrement left by his/her dog in any place within the Municipality other than the premises of the owner of the dog.
As a reminder Dog Control is considered an important Community Safety issue established for the protection of all persons, property and their respective pets.
All dangerous dogs must be registered with Lambton Shores.
We do not sell dog tags.
