EMERGENCY SERVICES
The Municipality of Lambton Shores has a wide range of emergency services available to its residents, including fire, police, ambulance and disaster response.
POLICING

Policing services are provided by the Ontario Provincial Police through its two detachment offices in Forest and Grand Bend. The OPP maintain 24 hour service to the community with regular patrols and accident and incident response.
FIRE

Lambton Shores maintains and operates five (5) volunteer fire departments within its borders. These departments are strategically located in Arkona, Forest, Grand Bend, Northville, and Thedford. We are indeed fortunate to have such excellent services available due to the commitment of our local resident volunteers, all 120 of them.
The departments provide fire inspections, fire response, accident response, CPR, search and rescue, fire prevention and education programs. They are a key institution in our communities, performing a range of community and charitable undertakings, including the delivery of Christmas food baskets to the needy.
AMBULANCE

Working hand in hand with our Fire and Policing services are the Lambton County Emergency Medical Services (Ambulance Service). There are three Ambulance stations operating on a 24 hour basis in Lambton Shores with stations located in Forest, Grand Bend and Thedford.
DISASTER RESPONSE

The Municipality of Lambton Shores also provides overall emergency coordination in the event of major disasters such as tornados, ice storm, extended power outages etc. The Municipality maintains an Emergency Response Plan and operates from its Emergency Operations Centre in the upper level of the Thedford Recreation Centre. The Centre is equipped with standby power, wireless computer service and other resources to coordinate emergency response. Part of that emergency or disaster response involves the operation of emergency reception centres (formerly referred to as area evacuation centres).
There are five emergency reception centres located in Lambton Shores.
In the event of an emergency these centres will be operated by the Canadian Red Cross and local volunteers. Each centre is equipped with standby power to ensure it will be able to operate under most conditions, providing shelter, food and medical aid.
