The Grand Bend Area Community Health Centre offers many programs and classes throughout the year which are FREE and are open to anyone in the community.  Listed below are some of these great programs.   • Chronic Pain Management and Exercise Program, starts March 5 for nine weeks. Program includes exercise and a guest speaker each week to help you with your chronic pain in a support group setting (ext 223)

The North Lambton Community Health Centre also offer many programs and classes that are open to anyone in the community and are FREE!  Listed below are some of the great programs offered by the Centre.   • Cinderella Story provides formal wear to young ladies who could not otherwise afford the expense of a new dress for prom. Items that can be donated include: gently used or new formal gowns, less than 5 years old and in excellent condition, formal shoes and formal jewelry. Donations can be dropped off at :

    • East Lambton CHC, 536 Simcoe Street, Watford

  • Forest Everybody Move Program, March 15 and March 17, 10:00am-12:00pm, for ages 6-13 at  the Shores Recreation Centre (ext 269)

Ontario Early Years Centre offers many valuable programs and services to families of Lambton Shores. Some of the programs offered by the Centre are listed below. The OEYC Lambton-Kent-Middlesex is a family drop-in program operated by North Lambton Childcare Centre. It is part of the Ontario government's commitment to families with children ages 0-6.

Grand Bend Public School Presents "High School Musical" Production, May 3-7

Sunset Cinema Film Presentation, May 6

Grand Bend Community Health Centre, Community Room, doors open at 6:45pm, film starts at 7:00pm. May film is "An Education" - comedy/drama. Films presented are free of charge, donations are welcome.

Lambton Shores Communities in Bloom Speaker Fundraiser, May 6

Port Franks Community Centre, marketplace begins at 6:00pm, speaker at 7:00pm. Charlie Dobbin, co-host of HGTV's "One Garden, Two Looks" and Communities in Bloom provincial judge will speak about "What's New for 2010". Tickets are $10.00 in advance, and available from any communities in Bloom committee representative. A Medieval Adventure at the Lambton Heritage Museum, May 8 to December 15

Rush across the drawbridge, duck the portcullis and join us at the Lambton Heritage Museum for a Medieval Adventure. Throughout the gallery there is a combination of hands-on activities and take-home crafts. Children have the opportunity to experience the romance of life in a manor house, the drudgery of life in the peasant house, guilds and trades, illuminated manuscripts, architecture and construction, castles, knights and chivalry, and more. Downtown Forest. This is a fun day that will be held in conjunction with the Forest Farmers' and Artisan Market. Events include a charity BBQ and free giveaways. The "Spring Fling" draw will be held at 12:00pm. Tickets are available at various businesses in Forest.

Grand Bend Farmers' Market, Wednesdays from May 26 to October 6

Colonial Parking Lot, Grand Bend, 8:00am-1:00pm. A weekly farmers' market featuring locally-grown produce and meats, homemade baked goods and crafts.

West Coast Lions Club of Grand Bend hosts 3rd Annual Purina Walk for Guide Dogs, May 30

Lions Park Pavilion, Grand Bend, registration statrs at 10:00am. Look for pledge sheets at various locations in Grand Bend, see any Lion member or call 519-236-7399 for information. Alhambra

Alhambra Hall, 10080 Klondyke Road. Meetings are held the last Thursday of each month at 8:00pm and are open to all members and those men interested in assisting the mentally challenged. For more information, contact Jim De Zorzi at 519-243-1683.

Caring Quilters of Lambton Shores, is a non-profit organization of volunteers who create comfort quilts for distribution by Victim Services volunteers. We have just celebrated our 10th anniversary, and in those 10 years our group has created close to 700 quilts. We meet every Wednesday at the Port Franks Community Centre. Anyone of any age is welcome to join, no sewing or quilting experience necessary. For more information contact Annette Hitchins at GAHitchins@execulink.com or call 519-243-1318.

Grand Bend Social Film Group is a new organization that will meet the first Thursday of each month, with the exception of May through August.  The group will meet at the Grand Bend Area Community Health Centre in the Community Room (upstairs media room) from 7:00pm to 10:00pm.  Films will be of a general interest to adults, and a time for discussion will follow each showing for those interested. Admission is free with any donations returned to the community at the end of the season. Films purchased will be given to the local library.   Anyone interested in volunteering with setup, film selection or money management should contact Dinah Taylor at 519-238-1114 or by email.

Kids Matter, Tuesdays

Port Franks Community Centre, Upper Hall, 10:00am - 2:00pm. Join us as we Crochet sleeping mats out of milk bags to send to the children in Africa and South America. Bring your lunch, scissors and a #7 crochet hook. Call Peggy at 519-296-5834 for details.

Thedford Garden Club is dedicated to keeping the flower gardens around our community attractive. Meetings are held at the Village Complex on the second Tuesday of the month from April to December. We organize work parties for other evenings and weekends to keep our gardens beautiful. If you want to help out but can't make the meetings, email Jeannette at tidballs@execulink.com or call 519-296-5804. We would love to see you.

Grand Bend Women's Probus, is an organization for retired business and professional women. Meetings are held the second Tuesday of the month from September to June at the Grand Bend Legion. Upcoming speakers and topics include: March 11, The Lucan Donnelly's and April 13, De-cluttering YOur House and Feng Shui. New members are welcome, call 519-238-1114 or 519-238-5419.

Open Painting at the Grand Bend Art Centre, Thursdays from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. Cost is $10 - bring a project and materials and paint with various artists.

Mom & Me Program

North Lambton CHC, come, RELAX and chat with other moms, health professionals available to ask questions.  Includes support for new moms and babies under 12 months, weigh scale for baby, child care for older children and discussions with health care providers. Victim Services of Sarnia - Lambton Inc. is currently seeking caring individuals interested in volunteering in Lambton County. Victim Services is a volunteer organization that works with police to provide immediate emotional and practical support to victims of crime and tragic circumstance. Lambton Shores YMCA offers a variety of programs at the Shores Recreation Centre in Forest including Y-Bo, Y-Stretch, Zumba, spin classes and more. Ladies Ball Hockey, Late April or Early May

The Watercolour Café presents drop-in classes beginning in May at the Port Franks Community Centre. All paints, brushes and paper provided. Tea is also provided. Grand Bend Yatch Club, Racing Program

This program runs through the summer. Eager crew members are always welcome. If you would like to spend time on the water and learn the aspects of sailing and yacht racing then be sure to join us. Most races are conducted on Sunday mornings at 9:30am. If you would like to join us, please contact Dave Maguire at 519-238-8687 after 6pm.
