Grand Bend Beach Enhancement - Project Update
The McLean Taylor Construction team was on site as soon as the snow left the beach work site and picked up right where they left off in the fall. The basic "bones" of the beach enhancements have now been installed - including new curbing that will define the newly aligned turnaround on Main Street, the new performance plaza areas, the new splash pad and other garden/planting areas. The piping for the new splash pad has now been installed as have some of the spray units.

The contractor is also laying out the route and base of the new boardwalk - the new boardwalk will be made up of 3 inch thick Hemlock boards which will go down soon. The contractor will also be laying out the location of the new observation decks at the same time. The armour stone walls, which will define the new "dune grass" planting areas have also been positioned in their appropriate locations and the first crop of dune grass was planted in the fall and is already showing signs of life.

Also underway is the installation of underground wiring and conduit to service the site with new energy efficient lighting and irrigation. Lambton Shores staff are also outsourcing the installation of security cameras throughout the site that will allow greater monitoring of activities on the baech and within the new enhancement areas.
