Municipal Office Holiday Hours
All Municipal Administration Offices will be closed for the holiday season from Thursday, December 24, 2015 at noon and re-opening Monday, January 4, 2016 at 8:30 a.m.

Holiday Schedule for Garbage & Recycling Pickup
There will not be garbage or recycling pick up on Friday, December 25th or Friday, January 1st. However, a special collection for those normally collected on Fridays will take place on Saturday, January 2, 2016.

If your normal collection day is Friday, please ensure that your material is set out by 7:00 a.m. January 2, 2016 as the driver may be there earlier than usual. Regular collection will commence again January 4th, 2015

EMPLOYMENT Community Services Department – Operator
The Municipality of Lambton Shores is currently accepting resumes for a full time unionized Operator position within its Community Services Department. The Operator position works under the daily supervision of the Area Manager and carries out the mandate of the Community Services department

Job Duties
This position will report to arena operations for the winter months and will report to parks and facilities operations for the summer months.

Working weekends is a regular expectation of this position.

Duties include:
Responsibilities focused on public works operations with arena and other facility maintenance, including cemetery and playground maintenance, and waterfront maintenance operations. Work location could include one or both arenas, any municipal facility/shop, and municipal parks, cemeteries, and property facilities requiring grounds maintenance.

Road Maintenance:

  • Operate various public works equipment such as backhoe, grader, snow plow, sanders, tractor/mowers, street sweeper, wood chipper
  • Roads maintenance including traffic signs
  • Sidewalk maintenance (cleaning, clearing and sweeping)
  • Ditching

Winter Facilities/Arena Operations:

  • Works under the supervision of the Area Manager to ensure that facilities are ready for scheduled bookings.
  • Ensures that ice plants and related equipment is maintained in a clean and safe condition and that ice temperature and conditions are maintained for various program requirements.
  • Prepares ice surface for play, regularly operates the municipal ice resurfacing equipment.
  • Ensures that refrigeration equipment/ice flooding machines furnaces, hot water equipment etc. are kept in good condition, completing preventative maintenance as needed.
  • Performs general janitorial duties, keeping all areas of facilities clean and in good repair.

Summer Parks/Facilities Operations:

  • Carries out maintenance work at municipal properties including: tree trimming, grass cutting, periodic planting/maintaining flower beds and landscaping; repair and maintain fences, structures, signs, playing fields, play equipment and other facilities.
  • Day to day road maintenance and operations of snow plow equipment and other construction equipment.
  • Keeps all parks and other outdoor recreational facilities in clean and safe condition for the use of the public.
  • Carries out special waste pickups such as leaf pick-up. Regular assignments to work in general maintenance and beach cleaning.

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will possess the following qualities:

  • Secondary school diploma and complimenting post-secondary education preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills for regular interaction with members of the public, municipal and other governmental staff.
  • DZ Driver’s License.
  • Operational experience with construction equipment is an asset.
  • Basic safety training - Health & Safety, WHIMIS and First Aid preferred.
  • Horticultural training or certification is an asset.
  • Refrigeration and ice plant certifications, Certified Ice Technician designation preferred.
  • Experience in a supervisory capacity is considered an asset.
  • Chainsaw Safety Course

FOR SALE Fitness Equipment
The Municipality of Lambton Shores is offering various pieces of fitness equipment for sale that are surplus to its needs.

As follows:

  • Jog Unity (1) (treadmill)
  • Synchro (1) (elliptical)
  • Recline Bike (1)
  • Vertical Bench (1)
  • Adjustable Bench (1)

A separate bid must be submitted for each piece of equipment.

The equipment is being sold as is, where is and all items are offered with the Municipality making no claims or representation of warranty or condition of any kind. The bidder shall determine at their own risk and expense the suitability of the equipment for any intended purpose.

The equipment is available at the Shores Recreation Centre, Suncor Wellness Centre for inspection during regular business hours. For an appointment, call 519-786-9622.
