Leaf Pick Up Program


Continues until May 31


Lambton Shores operates a Leaf Pick up Program in the spring and fall at no charge. We will pick up your bagged leaves (paper bags) at the curb during the allotted time frame stated above as time and quantity dictates. Any leaves left at the curb after May 31, 2019 will not be picked up.

Sunset Market in the Park


May 16


The first Sunset Market in the Park will take place on Thursday, May 16 from 6-10pm at Optimist Park in Grand Bend. Come check out the local vendors, entertainment and activities for the family.


Guild Fashion Show


May 16


Reserve your tickets now for the Guild Fashion Show on May 16th at 6:15 pm at the Huron Country Playhouse in Grand Bend.  For only $25, you will be treated to Hors D'oeuvres and four fine stores displaying the latest in Ladies' wear.  Cash bar.  Reserved seating.  Enjoy a local Girls' Night Out with your friends. 


ABCA Turtle Workshop


May 16 – Preregister by May 14


The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority will hold its annual spring Turtle Workshop on Thursday, May 16th at 7pm at the Port Franks Community Centre. Pre-registration is requested by May 14th.  This is an opportunity to learn about your local turtles and learn how you can help them by participating in the community turtle monitoring program.


Migration Weekend 2019


May 18-20


Are you camping in Pinery this Victoria Day weekend? If you are, you can expect to experience the rare phenomenon of Migration. Migration is the movement of an animal from one place to another and usually occurs on a seasonal basis. Every spring the peak time for bird migration happens to fall on the Victoria Day weekend, so as you migrate back to Pinery for another great camping season, make sure to stop by one of our themed programs to learn more about this amazing phenomenon.


Plant Sale, Auction and BBQ


May 18


The Port Franks Garden Club will host its annual plant sale and silent auction on Saturday May 18th from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM at the Port Franks Community Centre. All are welcome, refreshments will be served. For more information please contact Anne Chute at 519-243-3548.


Grand Bend and Area Men’s PROBUS Meeting


May 21


The Grand Bend and Area Men’s Probus Club will meet on Tuesday, May 21 at 10am at the Grand Bend Legion.  The club welcomes all retired or semi-retired gentlemen in the Grand Bend area for a fun, sharing experience that offers an opportunity for fellowship combined with thought provoking, exceptional speakers at every meeting.


Grand Bend Farmers' Market - Opening Day


May 22


Grand Bend Farmers' Market will open at its NEW LOCATION, the Lambton Heritage Museum on May 22. Operating on Wednesday mornings from 8am - 1pm weekly from mid-May to Oct. annually, you can find a wide variety of products and produce from area farmers including fresh grown vegetables, fruits and meats, maple syrup, honey, baking & Artisans.


Lambton Film and Food Festival 2019


May 23-26


The Kiwanis Club of Forest will host the Lambton Film and Food Festival Weekend from May 23-26, 2019
10 critically acclaimed films will be shown including the Academy Award winning film for Best Picture "Green Book". Three catered dinners at Forest Kimball Hall; Four tasting experiences; Artists and Entertainment in Rotary Park Saturday, May 25; Two cell phone photography workshops - 10:45am on Saturday and Sunday at the Kineto; and a FREE showing of "Giant Little Ones" Thursday, May 23 at 8:00pm



LaFFF Youth Short Film Competition


May 23 – submissions are due May 17


The Youth Short Film Competition will be taking place once again at this year's Lambton Film and Food Festival. Participants must be in high school (grades 9-12) and films must be a minimum length of 3 minutes long.  All entries will be screened on Mary 23rd at the Kineto Theatre. Cash prizes will be awarded that evening for each category. All participants and families welcome to attend. Pizza will be provided. People’s choice award will be made on Sunday, May 26, 2019.


Forest Farmers' and Artisan Market - Opening Day


May 24


The Forest Farmers' and Artisans Market will be back on King St W in Forest on Fridays starting May 24 until October 11 from 8am-1pm.  Downtown Forest Farmer's Market is a source of local foods from area farmers. It's a seasonal market featuring farmers, maple producers, honey, and local crafters. A group of local vendors come together weekly to offer a unique selection of products.


Forest Town-wide Garage Sales


May 25


There will be a number of garage sales set up throughout the town of Forest on May 25.  Please be mindful of this when out and about that day and watch for pedestrians.


Yard/Bake Sale & BBQ


May 25


Yard/Bake Sale & BBQ at Forest United Church, 21 James St., North, Forest on Sat., May 25/19 from 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.  Cash in on the bargains and scrumptious baking and a BBQ, as well as enjoy a free coffee & Timbits (while they last).  


Dragon Boat - Try It Day!


May 25


Youth ages 10 to 18 years are invited to come out to the Port Franks Marina on Saturday, May 25 to learn the basics of paddling and racing during this free day clinic lead by certified dragon boat coaches and sterns. Lunch and all equipment will be provided. 


Fantastic Food Fest


May 25


The Port Franks Seniors will host a Fantastic Food Fest on Saturday, May 25 at the Port Franks Community Centre. Doors open at 5:00pm; Chicken burgers and a variety or finger foods will be served from 6-7:30pm. Live Music provided by Midlife Crisis. Advance tickets - $10 per person / at the door - $15 per person.


Port Franks Camera Club Meeting


May 27


The Port Franks Camera Club will meet at 7pm at the Port Franks Community Centre on May 27. At this meeting, they will do the monthly review of photos and discuss how to add watermarks and metadata.


Well Women's Event


May 29


The Grand Bend and Area Community Health Centre will host a Well Women's Event on May 29 at the health centre. Topics of discussion will include: 


  • Instant Pot Cooking with Susan Bird - there will be a chance to win an instant pot!
  • Pelvic Floor Issues: Prevent and Treat Bladder Issues and more with Physiotherapist Nicole Pasut
  • What screening tests should I have done?


The Centre will also have pap testing available during the day.  Please call 519-238-2362 for set up an appointment. 


Forest Optimist Club Youth Dance


May 31


The Optimist Club of Forest is excited to announce the next dance will be on May 31st for grades 5-9 and will run from 7:30 until 10pm. Parents / Guardians must come in with your youth to sign the Optimist Youth dance Covenant if you haven't already done so. The Covenant outlines the expectations of the Optimist Club, the youth, and the parents. Cost for the dance will be $5 and each youth will get one canteen ticket for each admission.




International Hike Day


June 1


The Lambton Shores Nature Trails will host the International Hike Day on Saturday, June 1 from 10am to 1pm at the Lambton County Heritage Forest Trails. Registration Booth open from 10 am & 12:30 pm at the new trailhead structure at the Port Franks Community Centre.


  • Wear the colours of your county(s), wave your flags!
  • Scavengers hunt, story tellers, and photo ops along the way.
  • A total of over 8 km of trails... you choose how far you want to go!
  • Complete your set goal and receive an official LSNT
  • Certificate of completion.




Forest Kiwanis Bike Rodeo


June 1


The Forest Kiwanis Club will host their annual Bike Rodeo on Saturday, June 1 at the Shores Recreation Centre. This is a FREE event for everyone to enjoy!
Bring the kids and their bikes out to test their cycling skills! Cyclists will be divided into three categories based on their ages (age 13 and under). There will a special category for parents too! All participants required to wear properly fitting helmets to participate! Click on the poster for complete details.
Prizes will be awarded at 1:30pm - you must be present to win! There will be three draws for 3 new bikes too!







Summer Camps for Kids


Grand Bend Youth, Art and Community Centre Summer Camps


The Grand Bend Youth, Art and Community Centre has a series of children’s summer camps lined up for 2019. The camps will take place at the Centre located at 16 Municipal Drive in Grand Bend from 10am-3pm. Preregistration is required.


Forest Optimist Club/Kiwanis Club Camp Foodie


August 12-16; August 19-23


Camp Foodie is a fun camp with an emphasis on health and deliciousness! Open to kids aged 9 to 14, kids will learn where food comes from, how to prepare it themselves, how to share it with others and delicious and healthy recipes to try at home. $50 per child.  Go to or visit the Optimist Club’s Facebook page for more information.


Thedford-Arkona Vacation Bible Camp


August 19-23


Make your VBS the mane event! This epic African adventure engages the whole herd. At Roar, kids explore God’s goodness and celebrate a ferocious faith that powers them through this wild life. The Camp takes place Monday through Friday 8:45am-12pm at the Legacy Recreation Centre in Thedford.

Ausable Port Franks Optimist Club


Arts and Stuff Club – Wednesdays – 6-9pm – Optimist Club Hall (upstairs) of the Port Franks Community Centre, 9997 Port Franks Road. Ages 8 to 88 are invited to come out and see what we are up to – sharing ideas is the fun part!  Mural painting and crafts for various Optimist events - Guest Artists will come and share their creative ideas according to the season.  You can bring your own supplies or we have some for you to use.  Donations of craft supplies, art materials and even $$ are accepted. Meat Raffles - Every 3rd Saturday (September –May) at Grog’s Pub & Grill starting at 2pm


Caring Quilters of Lambton Shores


We are a quilting group dedicated to making comfort quilts for volunteers who distribute them to victims of tragic circumstances through Sarnia Lambton Victim Services. We meet every Wednesday throughout the year from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Port Franks Community Centre, 9997 Port Franks Rd. We invite you to come and see what we do and maybe in the process become a volunteer yourself.


Dunes Duplicate Bridge


The Community Centre at Port Franks, 9997 Port Franks Road, is the home of our duplicate bridge club. We host ACBL sanctioned games on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Meat Raffles and Catch the Ace Draws – Saturdays from 4-6pm - Come out and enjoy the fun of a meat raffle and support our veterans. Tickets are $10 for 12 draws.
Sunday Brunch -We welcome you on the 3rd Sunday of every month (except December) from 9am to 12. Enjoy Bacon, Sausage, Omelets, Scrambled eggs, Potatoes, Toast, and Dessert, Juice Coffee and Tea. Tickets are $9 Adults, under 10 - $5. Toddlers are free.  Come to see your friends. All welcome.

  • Spring into Genealogy - February 21- June 20 - Need help tracing your ancestry? The Lambton County Archives is offering to drop-in and learn style classes on genealogy every third Thursday from February to June 2019.
  • Canada’s Waterscapes – May 1 – September 30 - This is a rare opportunity to see this interactive exhibition here in Lambton County! This travelling exhibit will be at the Lambton Heritage Museum for five months only, so don’t miss your chance to experience it! You’ll be able to dive in and find out what it takes to understand and take care of Canada’s aquatic ecosystems.
