Upcoming Community Events & Meetings

Spring Music Night

June 6

The North Lambton Secondary School Music Department presents the Spring Music Night on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 7:00pm. The evening will feature the school's bands and choir. $4 in advance, $5 at the door. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Sunset Cinema

June 6

Sunset Cinema presents “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” on Thursday, June 6 at 7:30pm in the Community Rooms at the Grand Bend Community Health Centre. 

Model Airplane Jet Flying Show

June 7-9

The Forest Lakeside Flyers Model Airplane Club is hosting a jet flying show at their club field on Friday June 7th, Saturday June 8th and Sunday June 9th.
Turbine and electric powered jet aircraft with wingspans between 3 feet and 8 feet will be flying with speeds approaching 200 mph. Bring a chair and sunscreen and enjoy the action.  There will be a food booth each day.  Visitor parking donation of $5.00 per car.  The club field is located on Proof Line Road off Hwy #21, approximately 4km north of Forest.

June PD Day at the Lambton Heritage Museum

June 7

Conservation educators from the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority and the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority will be onsite at Lambton Heritage Museum from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm on the first PA Day in June. This is a great opportunity to learn about some of the special ways that water has shaped out local area. A variety of activities are available, including touchable tables (with items like turtle shells and mussels), raccooning for mussels (digging through muddy water for mussel shells), a scavenger hunt, and a chance to use sieves and magnifiers to investigate sand.

Beef BBQ

June 7

Beef BBQ on Fri., June 7/19 at Forest United Church, 21 James St. N, Forest from 4:30-6:30 p.m.  BBQ beef, baked potato, coleslaw, baked beans, beverage & dessert for $17 adults advanced, $20 at the door, kids 6-12 $7 & under 6 free.  Please email or call 519-786-2514 to reserve your tickets.  Takeout meals available.

Scorpions Youth Volleyball Tournament

June 8

The Scorpions Youth Volleyball Club announce the dates of their 2019 Youth Open Beach Volleyball Tournaments in Grand Bend.

Trash 2 Treasures, Garage, Plant Sale

June 8

The Centre Ipperwash Community Association is holding their annual Trash 2 Treasures, Garage and Plant Sale at Driftwood Treasures. Everyone is welcome!

Pickerel Fish Fry Dinner

June 8

The Port Franks Seniors will host their annual Pickerel Fish Fry on Saturday, June 8. Doors open at 5:00pm; Dinner will start at 5:30pm. Advance tickets only - $17 per person.

Arkona Cemetery Decoration Day

June 9

The Annual Decoration Day Services at the Arkona Cemetery will be held on Sunday, June 9 at 2:30pm. All are welcome - please bring a lawn chair. In the event of rain, the service will be held at Elim Bible Chapel located at 8457 Townsend Line, Arkona.

Port Franks Camera Club Meeting

June 10

The Port Franks Camera Club will meet on Monday, June 10 at 7pm at the Port Franks Community Centre. They will be discussing Abstract Shooting. Bring your camera!


Ipperwash and Area Community Safety Committee Information Night

June 12

The Ipperwash and Area Community Safety Committee will host their 12th Annual Community Information Evening on Wednesday, June 12 at the Port Franks Community Centre from 7:00pm-8:30pm. Guest speakers will include:

  • Lambton O.P.P. - CPTED - Property Protection
  • Lambton Public Health - New Non-Smoking Legislation

Various community groups will be onsite with information on a variety of topics concerning our community safety. 

Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup with the St. John’s-by-the-Lake Treasure Hunters

June 15

We will meet in the north parking lot of the Grand Bend Main Beach (parking will be free for volunteers from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.).  Garbage bags and gloves will be supplied.  As part of the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup we are asked to record what we pick up (recording forms will also be supplied).  Come out, stroll along the beach and gather up some garbage.  

Embracing Change with Audrey Stringer

June 15

Join Audrey Stringer, Bereavement Counsellor, motivational speaker and author on Sat., June 15/19 from 9:30-11:30 a.m.  This is a free event presented by Denning’s Funeral Home and others who care.  Please call 519-899-3173.

Port Franks Garden Club General Meeting

June 18 

The Port Franks Garden Club meets ever third Tuesday of each month at the Port Franks Community Centre from 7-9pm. Meetings feature a guest speaker that stimulate the knowledge and love of gardening and encourage caring environmental stewardship. 

Sunset Market in the Park

June 20  

The market will be held on the third Thursday during the months of May-Sept from 6-10pm at the Optimist Park (corner of Gill Road and Highway 81). The market will feature local restaurants, highlighting our local youth, acoustic performances under the gazebo, lecture stage, meditation area, sweet local vendors and every market will showcase a local charity that we will help raise awareness and money for.

Arkona Funtastic Day 2019

June 22

The Arkona Lioness Club will host their annual Funtastic Day on Saturday, June 22. The event will feature a Western theme this year. Activities will start at 7am with a town-wide garage sale. There will also be a parade, children’s activities and a fish fry.

Beachfest 2019

June 22

The Grand Bend Optimist Club will host the 3rd Annual Beachfest on Saturday, June 22 at Grand Bend's main beach from 12pm until 10pm. Enjoy samplings of craft beer, cider, wine and food available to purchase at the event as well as live music on the Grand Bend Rotary Community Stage. Tickets are $20 in advance; $25 at the door. 



Summer Camps for Kids

Grand Bend Youth, Art and Community Centre Summer Camps

The Grand Bend Youth, Art and Community Centre has a series of children’s summer camps lined up for 2019. The camps will take place at the Centre located at 16 Municipal Drive in Grand Bend from 10am-3pm. Preregistration is required.

YMCA Day Camps

The Lambton Shores YMCA will be running camps in Forest, Thedford and Grand Bend this summer. Contact the YMCA at 519-786-9622 or click on the link below for more information.

Forest Optimist Club/Kiwanis Club Camp Foodie

August 12-16; August 19-23

Camp Foodie is a fun camp with an emphasis on health and deliciousness! Open to kids aged 9 to 14, kids will learn where food comes from, how to prepare it themselves, how to share it with others and delicious and healthy recipes to try at home. $50 per child.  Go to or visit the Optimist Club’s Facebook page for more information.

Thedford-Arkona Vacation Bible Camp

August 19-23

Make your VBS the mane event! This epic African adventure engages the whole herd. At Roar, kids explore God’s goodness and celebrate a ferocious faith that powers them through this wild life. The Camp takes place Monday through Friday 8:45am-12pm at the Legacy Recreation Centre in Thedford.

Ausable Port Franks Optimist Club

Arts and Stuff Club – Wednesdays – 6-9pm – Optimist Club Hall (upstairs) of the Port Franks Community Centre, 9997 Port Franks Road. Ages 8 to 88 are invited to come out and see what we are up to – sharing ideas is the fun part!  Mural painting and crafts for various Optimist events - Guest Artists will come and share their creative ideas according to the season.  You can bring your own supplies or we have some for you to use.  Donations of craft supplies, art materials and even $$ are accepted. Meat Raffles - Every 3rd Saturday (September –May) at Grog’s Pub & Grill starting at 2pm

Caring Quilters of Lambton Shores

We are a quilting group dedicated to making comfort quilts for volunteers who distribute them to victims of tragic circumstances through Sarnia Lambton Victim Services. We meet every Wednesday throughout the year from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the Port Franks Community Centre, 9997 Port Franks Rd. We invite you to come and see what we do and maybe in the process become a volunteer yourself.

Dunes Duplicate Bridge

The Community Centre at Port Franks, 9997 Port Franks Road, is the home of our duplicate bridge club. We host ACBL sanctioned games on Wednesday and Friday afternoons. Forest Farmers' and Artisan Market


The Forest Farmers' and Artisans Market will be back on King St W in Forest on Fridays starting May 24 until October 11 from 8am-1pm.  Downtown Forest Farmer's Market is a source of local foods from area farmers. It's a seasonal market featuring farmers, maple producers, honey, and local crafters. A group of local vendors come together weekly to offer a unique selection of products. Meat Raffles and Catch the Ace Draws – Saturdays from 3-5pm - Come out and enjoy the fun of a meat raffle and support our veterans. Tickets are $10 for 12 draws.
Sunday Brunch -We welcome you on the 3rd Sunday of every month (except December) from 9am to 12. Enjoy Bacon, Sausage, Omelets, Scrambled eggs, Potatoes, Toast, and Dessert, Juice Coffee and Tea. Tickets are $9 Adults, under 10 - $5. Toddlers are free.  Come to see your friends. All welcome.

Grand Bend & Area Community Health Centre

The Grand Bend Area Community Health Centre (GBACHC) offers many programs and classes throughout the year which are FREE and open to anyone in the community.  

Exercise Programs

Come out to the Grand Bend Farmers' Market at its NEW LOCATION, the Lambton Heritage Museum on Wednesday mornings from 8am - 1pm weekly from mid-May to October. They offer a wide variety of products and produce from area farmers including fresh grown vegetables, fruits and meats, maple syrup, honey, baking & Artisans.   • Spring into Genealogy - February 21- June 20 - Need help tracing your ancestry? The Lambton County Archives is offering to drop-in and learn style classes on genealogy every third Thursday from February to June 2019.
  • Canada’s Waterscapes – May 1 – September 30 - This is a rare opportunity to see this interactive exhibition here in Lambton County! This travelling exhibit will be at the Lambton Heritage Museum for five months only, so don’t miss your chance to experience it! You’ll be able to dive in and find out what it takes to understand and take care of Canada’s aquatic ecosystems.
