Lambton Shores issues property tax bills twice a year, with two installments on each bill. We mail the interim tax bill in February and the installment amounts are based on 50% of the previous years' taxes. The installment due dates are:

Penalty and Interest Charges |
||||||
Penalty and interest charges of 1.25% will be added to installments not paid by the due date. Interest charges are applied on the first day of each month until the balance is paid. Failure to receive a tax bill does not exempt the taxpayer from late payment charges. | ||||||

The Municipal Act, 2001, allows a municipality to sell a property when taxes are in arrears for approximately 2 years. There are various steps in the tax sale process which are designed to allow the owner ample time to bring their tax account into good standing. However, after a Tax Arrears Certificate has been registered on the property for one year, the municipality can sell the property.
