Notice to all Municipal electors in the Municipality of Lambton Shores
This notice is for anyone proposing to be a candidate in the 2022 Municipal and School Board Elections on October 24, 2022. Nominations for the positions listed below must be filed on the prescribed form with the Returning Officer during normal office hours between the first business day of May in 2022 to Thursday, August 18, 2022, and between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022 (Nomination Day). Offices for which Persons may be Nominated:
- MAYOR One (1) position to be elected at large
- DEPUTY MAYOR One (1) position to be elected at large
- COUNCILLOR Seven (7) positions (one for each of the seven wards)
School Board Trustee Positions (shared with other Municipalities):
- LAMBTON KENT DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD One (1) position
- ST. CLAIR CATHOLIC DISTRICT SCHOOL BOARD One (1) position
- CONSEIL SCOLAIRE VIAMONDE One (1) position
- CONSEIL SCOLAIRE CATHOLIQUE PROVIDENCE One (1) position
All nomination forms must be submitted in person during regular office hours accompanied by the prescribed nomination filing fee of $100.00 per office/school board or $200.00 for the office of Mayor payable by cash, certified cheque, debit or money order.
In the event there are an insufficient number of certified candidates to fill all positions available, nominations will be reopened for the vacant positions only on Wednesday, August 24, 2022, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. and such additional nominations, if required, may be filed with the Clerk or designate at the Municipal Office at 7883 Amtelecom Parkway, Forest.
Electors are hereby given notice that if a greater number of candidates are certified than are required to fill the offices, an election will be held and voting will be conducted through telephone/internet voting. Electors will be able to cast a ballot anytime, anywhere between October 15 at 9:00 a.m. and October 24, 2022 at 8:00 p.m.
