Council Highlights: February 2025

Council highlights for January and February 2025:

  • Council approved the 2025 Operating and Capital Budgets resulting in a 4.54% municipal tax rate increase for 2025
  • Community Grant requests were approved; both financial and in-kind requests
  • Council received a Ward Boundary Review report with updated elector information
  • Council approved use of parking spaces for the River Road Arts Fair on June 21, 2025
  • Neptune Technology was awarded the tender for the Water Meter Replacement project for $657,730.96
  • Staff have been asked to prepare a by-law to regulate the keeping of backyard chickens
  • Council approved the process to create a Municipal Services Corporation for the purposes of sharing Municipal Accommodation Tax proceeds
  • Staff was directed to prepare a Municipal Accommodation Tax by-law
  • A Fire Protection Grant for updates to the Northville Fire Hall/Training Center was received
  • Council updated the Municipal Alcohol Policy
  • A road closure request for the Lambton Area Film and Food Festival from May 22-25th was approved
  • An extended ice season request for the Shores arena to May 11th was approved
  • Johnston Brothers Bothwell Limited was awarded the 2025 gravel tender
  • Work Equipment Limited was awarded the tender for an articulating tractor for $219,408.81
  • Several 2024 Annual Reports were received:  Water Reports, Cash in Lieu of Parkland, Council and Committee Remuneration and Expenses, Building Department
