Council Highlights – June and July, 2021

Council met virtually for their regularly scheduled meetings in June and July.  The public was invited to view the open session beginning at 7:00 pm. live on the Lambton Shores website. Here are some of the highlights from the two meetings:

  • Council approved the 2020 draft financial statements after a presentation by the municipal auditors
  • The Jays Care Foundation, Field of Dreams grant in the amount of $54,800.00 was received for the upgrades to the Rick Goodhand Memorial Baseball Diamond
  • Staff was authorized to issue a Request for Proposal for the purposes of securing Construction Management Services for an Administration Building; the Construction Manager will work with the architect to finalize a budget for the proposed building
  • A temporary control measure for sign permit approvals was enacted which restricts electronic/animated signs and allows for limitations on light intensity
  • In July, a public meeting was held for a plan of condominium for Grand Bend Developments on property located at 74 Main Street, East Grand Bend
  • Council received a presentation of the Community Risk Assessment and Fire Master Plan which was prepared by Richard Boyes of ESSSi
  • The municipality entered into a 20 year lease agreement with the Forest Agricultural Society for the use of the fairground property in Forest
  • Staff was instructed to prepare an amendment to the zoning by-law to address flat roofs and roof top patios in Plan 24
