COVID-19 Update: Municipal Impacts

UPDATE - May 14, 2021: The Ontario government has announced the extension of the declaration of emergency and province-wide stay-at-home order. The order, and all related restrictions, will remain in effect until at least June 2, 2021. More details about the provincial order and restrictions can be found on the Ontario government’s website.

As a result, the following closures within Lambton Shores remain in effect during the extended stay-at-home order:

  • All municipal park amenities and sports fields, including soccer fields, baseball diamonds, basketball courts, tennis courts, and pickleball courts
  • Grand Bend Marina and Port Franks Marina remain closed until further notice. Please also note that as part of the provincial order, public boat launches are closed for recreational boating purposes
  • All public washrooms and municipal facilities will remain closed
  • Restrictions on short-term rentals remain in effect and can only be provided to individuals who are in need of housing

The Municipality reminds the public that the following areas currently remain open with COVID-19 safety measures in place (maintaining at least two-metres away from others, no social gatherings with people outside your household, and wearing a mask when physical distancing is not possible):

  • Parks, trails and playgrounds
  • Grand Bend beach remains open to those in the region for walk through access only.* Congregation and social gatherings on the beach are not permitted during the current stay-at-home order. Public washrooms and facilities remain closed.

*Although Grand Bend beach remains open to those in the region to walk outside with members of their immediate household, Lambton Shores reminds the public that a key takeaway from the provincewide stay-at-home order is the importance of not travelling outside your own region unless necessary. We hope to welcome new visitors to Lambton Shores as soon as it is safe to do so.

It is vital that members of the public, even those who have been vaccinated, continue to practice public health measures, including:

  • Stay home if you are feeling unwell
  • Get tested for COVID-19 if you have symptoms or have been in close contact with a confirmed positive case of COVID-19
  • Limit gatherings to only members of your immediate household
  • Maintain a physical distance of at least 6 feet or 2 meters from others outside of your immediate household
  • Wear a mask or face covering indoors (and outdoors when not able to maintain physical distancing)
  • Wash hands frequently

The Municipality of Lambton Shores thanks the public for their patience as we continue to closely monitor changes to the provincial regulations. Announcements regarding any new changes or restrictions will be made as they come in from the province.
