Lambton Shores, ON – Lambton Shores Fire and Emergency Services has put out a call for part-time/on-call firefighters as the department launches their annual firefighter recruitment campaign. During this year’s recruitment campaign, the Municipality is looking to recruit a total of 18 firefighters across all five fire stations:
- Arkona: 2 openings
- Forest: 10 openings
- Grand Bend: 2 openings
- Northville: 2 openings
- Thedford: 2 openings
The Lambton Shores Fire and Emergency Services has a dedicated crew of on-call/part-time firefighters operating out of the five stations above and respond to a variety of emergencies, including:
- Fire calls
- Medical calls
- Technical rescue calls
- Hazardous material incidents
- Wildfires
- Motor vehicle collisions
In addition to emergency response, firefighters provide fire prevention and public education services to the community. Applicants must have a valid driver’s licence, be over the age of 18 years old, and legally allowed to work in Canada.
After applying, the hiring process will include physical fitness testing and an interview stage. Successful candidates will need to complete a mandatory recruit training program scheduled to begin in late May.
“We are lucky to have such a dedicated crew of firefighters, but as our community grows, so does the need to recruit more firefighters to join our team,” said Lambton Shores Fire Chief Lawrence Swift. “Under the new Provincial regulations, everyone must be a certified firefighter and complete our recruit training program before being able to respond to calls, but the cost of training is fully covered by the Municipality.”
Those interested in applying can attend one of two information sessions hosted by the fire department. The information sessions are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on March 13 at the Forest fire station and 7:00 p.m. on March 16 at the Grand Bend fire station.
The deadline to apply is March 31, 2023. For more information about the recruitment process, including a link to the application form, please visit our Careers Page
