By-Law Enforcement
The Municipal By-Law Enforcement Officer has a variety of responsibilities including the enforcement of parking, dog control, noise complaints, streets and sidewalks, open air burning, property standards, zoning and sign by-laws. Other by-laws which impose regulations on the general public are also enforced.
The Municipality is committed to the delivery of municipal by-law enforcement services in a timely and effective manner.

Filing a By-Law Complaint
All complaints must be submitted to the By-Law Enforcement Department in writing, by letter, by email, or using the online form on the Lambton Shores website with the complainants contact information and nature of the alleged complaint. Anonymous or incomplete complaints will not be accepted. Verbal (phone) complaints will only be received in instances of serious health and safety or environmental concerns. All personal information is collected in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Need to Report a By-Law Infraction?
Follow the steps below to submit a Customer Service Request (CSR):
- Report the problem or concern by submitting a CSR (by letter, email, or online)
- Once a complaint has been filed, you will receive a notification acknowledging receipt of your CSR, along with a case number assigned to your request
- Once we have investigated and closed/completed your request, you will receive a notification*
*No follow up, involvement, information or correspondence regarding the complaint shall be provided to the complainant as the process is protected by the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) provide 24-hour service to Lambton Shores residents through their Lambton Detachment. Please contact the OPP directly for issues related to: after hours noise-related neighbour or domestic dispute complaints, loitering, trespassing, possible drug activity, vandalism, or other criminal activity. If it is an immediate emergency, call 9-1-1.
