Downtown Forest King Street Parkette Project

In early 2024, Council purchased two vacant lots on King Street W in Downtown Forest to transform the space into a place for events, community activations and contribute to the ongoing downtown revitalization efforts.

In late 2024, the Municipality began to collaborate with several stakeholder groups in Forest to brainstorm how the spaces could be used and what features it should have to accommodate the needs of the public and local groups.

Turning the Vision into a Reality

The Downtown Forest Parkette Project will include two phases:

  1. Phase 1 (completed): adding utility services (hydro and water), surfacing the area, and restoring the north wall
  2. Phase 2 (currently underway): adding additional features, landscaping and other amenities, including:
    • Flower planters
    • Lit bollards
    • Accessible tables and chairs with permanent shades
    • A bike stand and repair station
    • Plans for a stage to be constructed on the new concrete pad in the near future
    • Plans for a fence along the south edge of the property with graphic panels pointing to Forest's heritage
