Public Notice: Temporary Increase in Watermain Pressure in Port Franks area

The Municipality wishes to inform residents of Port Franks that the local watermain is currently operating at a higher pressure than normal. This adjustment remains within safe standard operational limits and is necessary to support essential construction activities on the water system in Arkona.

What this means for homeowners:

  • Check Your PRV (Pressure Regulating Valve): To avoid potential pressure-related issues in your home, please inspect your PRV to ensure it is functioning properly.
    • The PRV regulates incoming water pressure to within 30-70 psi.
    • Common signs of PRV issues include humming noises or water hammering (loud banging or knocking in pipes). These may indicate your valve isn’t regulating pressure correctly.
    • Please note: The PRV is part of the homeowner’s private plumbing system. As suchany maintenance, repairs, or replacements are the sole responsibility of the homeowner, and the Municipality is not liable for associated cost

  • Report Water Escaping from the Ground: If you notice water emerging from the ground on or near your property, please contact the Municipality immediately so it can be investigated.

We appreciate your attention and cooperation during this period. Our team is monitoring the system closely to maintain safe and reliable service.

For questions or to report an issue, please contact the Public Works department at 519-243-1400 Option 2.
