With economic development set as a priority, the Municipality of Lambton Shores continues to work toward supporting the local tourism economy and expanding tourism beyond the traditional summer season. With an initial focus on extending tourism to the shoulder seasons, progress is being made to work toward positioning Lambton Shores as a year-round tourist destination.

With this in mind, progress is being made with many local businesses continuing to operate through the shoulder seasons and all year, especially within the Grand Bend community, which was largely summer-based historically. From restaurants and shops, to arts, entertainment and unique year-round agri-tourism experiences, Lambton Shores is transforming into that year-round tourist destination.

Forest Industrial Park

The Municipality owns an Investment Ready Certified Site in Forest, ON. The 55.7-acre fully serviced industrial property is strategically located within a 25-minute drive to Highway 402, and is in close proximity to rail, allowing for fast access to nearby urban areas such as London, Windsor, and Sarnia. Lambton Shores has a diverse economy including a strong foundation in agriculture, agri-food and manufacturing and growing retail, logistics, construction and service sectors.

Community Highlights

Invest in Arkona

Situated beside the Ausable River, the Village of Arkona is a small but mighty community rich in history. Arkona is a vibrant area known for its local shops, scenic waterfalls, and bountiful orchards. The beautiful blossoms on fruit trees decorate the town throughout the month of May and the Rock Glen Conservation Area offers a beautiful location for hiking, exploring, and fossil hunting. It's also home to Rock Glen Falls, a 30ft spectacle!

It remains an active centre of business and life in Lambton Shores, with a strong sense of pride for supporting local. Visitors and day-trippers quickly recognized that if you’re looking for small town hospitality, you’ll find it in Arkona.

Invest in Forest

Forest is the largest community in Lambton Shores. It is a thriving retail community lined with historic architecture. The community is located on Highway 21 and has been long known as a shopping destination, offering a blend of quaint shops, services, and restaurants. From day-to-day items to major purchases, Forest’s thriving retail community supports the needs of the local urban community and the numerous tourists who visit the area.

The area is also home to a cluster of industrial manufacturing companies, the Forest Industrial Park, and the Forest Business Improvement Area (BIA), which comprises of local downtown businesses and provides incredible business support.

Invest in Grand Bend

Grand Bend is the tourism hotspot of Lambton Shores. The community has a year-round population of approximately 2,000 residents but swells considerably in the summer months. Grand Bend’s main street boasts a mix of restaurants, shops, and nightlife destinations. At the end of main street awaits the internationally recognized Blue Flag Beach and Marina.

Grand Bend is also a regional cultural centre with art galleries, museums, a playhouse, winery, Motorplex, and plenty of outdoor activities at the Pinery Provincial Park.

Invest in Ipperwash

Ipperwash is a small beach community located on the shores of Lake Huron, adjacent to the Chippewas of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation. The community is comprised of full-time residents and an influx of seasonal residents and tourists.

The area is home to one of the longest freshwater beaches in Ontario, which welcomes beach enthusiasts during the summer months, and is lined with charming cottages and campgrounds to support its seasonal residents. The Ipperwash Dunes and Swales Nature Trail offers a beautiful hike through a Carolinian Forest, and in the spring, the trail is the best place to see wildflowers in full bloom!

Invest in Port Franks

Port Franks is a residential community nestled amongst a series of wetland areas and wooded dunes, making it a nature lover’s paradise. As a community of tight knit residents with a passion for supporting local, Port Franks is well known for its small businesses and shops, marina services, and restaurants.

Folks will flock to the area for fishing and boating, and Port Franks is host to the popular Bluewater Anglers Annual Salmon Derby. Residents and visitors alike will also take to the extensive trail system to hike through the wetlands, forests, and sand dunes.
