The current Lambton Shores Official Plan was adopted by the Council of the Municipality of Lambton Shores by By-law 106 of 2015 on November 24, 2015 under Section 17 (22) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990. The Official Plan was submitted to the County of Lambton for approval, and approved on September 14, 2017 with a number of modifications. Three additional changes were made by the (then) Local Planning Appeal Tribunal as settlements of appeals. One settlement changed the designation on a property on Schedule A3, the second added a special policy to section 5.7, the final revised a paragraph within section 13.3.2. Upon resolution of these appeals the Lambton Shores Official Plan came into full force and effect.
The Municipality commenced a “Section 26 Review” of the Official Plan with a Special Meeting of Council November 29, 2022, Open Houses April 17, 2024, and a Public Meeting April 30, 2024. The purpose was a “5 Year Review” of the Official Plan for conformity with Provincial Policy, the County Official Plan, and other applicable legislation, best practices, and matters of interest to the community. Council adopted OPA No.10 by By-law 66 of 2024 on August 13, 2024 to update the Official Plan. The County of Lambton Approval Authority approved OPA No.10 September 30, 2024 and the updates came into effect on October 21, 2024.
