Lambton Shores Partners with OFM to Host Mobile Live Fire Training Unit
The Municipality of Lambton Shores, in partnership with the Ontario Office of the Fire Marshal (OFM), recently hosted the OFM’s Mobile Live Fire Training Unit, providing local firefighters with an opportunity to participate in realistic, hands-on fire training close to home.
The mobile training unit is designed to provide firefighters with practical experience in controlled live-fire conditions. Training scenarios allow participants to practice essential firefighting skills, including fire suppression, hose advancement, search and rescue, ventilation, and working safely in high-heat and reduced-visibility environments.
Hosting the unit in Lambton Shores provided firefighters with valuable live fire training experience, in addition to their annual live fire training at the Lambton College Fire School.
“Live-fire training is an important part of preparing our firefighters for the conditions they may face during an actual emergency,” said Lambton Shores Fire Chief Sean Smith. “The OFM’s Live Fire Training Unit gave our members an opportunity to put their skills into practice in a realistic but controlled environment. We appreciate the partnership with the Office of the Fire Marshal and the opportunity to bring this level of training directly to our firefighters here in Lambton Shores.”
The Live Fire Training Unit was in Lambton Shores from September 8, 2026 to September 10, 2026. Firefighters participated in scheduled training exercises throughout the unit’s visit.
“Our firefighters dedicate a tremendous amount of time to training so they are prepared when our community needs them,” said Lambton Shores Mayor Doug Cook. “Bringing the OFM’s Live Fire Training Unit to the municipality was a great opportunity to provide high-quality, hands-on training right here in our backyard and we appreciate the opportunity to work with the Office of the Fire Marshal to provide it.”
The Municipality thanks the Office of the Fire Marshal for its partnership and continued support of firefighter training and development across Ontario
