Lambton Shores Receives $122,900 OTF Grant to Support All-Season Public Washroom in Downtown Forest
On Friday, local MPP Steve Pinsonneault met with representatives from the Municipality of Lambton Shores to celebrate the completion of a project supported by a $122,900 Capital grant from the provincial government's Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).
"Ontario Trillium Foundation funding is helping communities invest in projects that make a real difference in people's everyday lives,” said Steve Pinsonneault, MPP for Lambton—Kent—Middlesex. “This new four-season public washroom is a valuable addition to downtown Forest, providing a convenient, accessible amenity for residents while supporting local events, businesses, and the vitality of the downtown core. Congratulations to the Municipality of Lambton Shores on the completion of this important community project."
The funding helped support the installation of a new four-season public washroom at Rotary Civic Square Park in downtown Forest. The project complements the recently completed Downtown Forest Parkette and is part of the Municipality's ongoing investment in the downtown core.
The public washroom is located at Rotary Civic Square Park, providing convenient access for visitors using both the nearby splash pad and the Downtown Forest Parkette. The washroom is one of several improvements completed as part of the Municipality's work to enhance downtown Forest, following the purchase and redevelopment of two formerly vacant lots into a new community gathering space.
"There has been a lot of momentum in downtown Forest over the last few years, and projects like this are a direct result of working alongside community stakeholders to strengthen our downtown," said Lambton Shores Mayor Doug Cook. "A public washroom has been an important priority for the community throughout that process.”
“With direct access from the Downtown Forest Parkette, the new washroom provides a convenient amenity for residents and visitors while supporting community events, local businesses and families using the nearby splash pad," continued Mayor Cook.
