Lambton Shores Retains Blue Flag Status for 18th Consecutive Year

The Municipality of Lambton Shores is proud to share that the Grand Bend Beach, Grand Bend Marina, and Port Franks Marina have all earned the prestigious Blue Flag Canada designation for the 18th consecutive year. In 2026, Blue Flags were only awarded to 13 beaches and 10 marinas in Canada.

The Blue Flag designation is an international award given to beaches and marinas that meet high environmental, safety, and cleanliness standards. When you see a Blue Flag, it tells you that the beach or marina is managed sustainably, is accessible, and has high-quality services and safety procedures. Blue Flag beaches also actively monitor water quality.

To receive the designation, Blue Flag beaches need to meet 33 criteria across four categories:

  • Environmental Education and Information
  • Water Quality
  • Environmental Management
  • Safety and Services

Blue Flag marinas need to meet 38 criteria across six categories:

  • Environmental Education and Information
  • Environmental Management
  • Safety and Services
  • Water Quality
  • Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Social and Community Involvement
