Lambton Shores Declares Significant Weather Event

January 15, 2026

As of 8:30 a.m. on January 15, 2026, the Municipality of Lambton Shores has declared a significant weather event due to the ongoing conditions, as per Regulation 239/02 of the Municipal Act 2001.

A significant weather event is declared when it is anticipated that approaching or current weather hazards have the potential to pose significant danger to road users within the community.

This declaration is to notify the public that due to the ongoing weather conditions, extreme caution is to be exercised when travelling on Municipal roads, and that it may take longer than usual to clear roads and bring them back to normal conditions. Snow removal will continue with a priority on designated primary routes to ensure the delivery and access for emergency services. Secondary routes will be cleared after primary routes. Please be patient as our crews continue to work hard through this weather event.

Residents are reminded that overnight parking on municipal roads is prohibited, which is especially important to facilitate snow removal. Residents are asked where it is possible to avoid the use of on-street parking during daytime hours as well to further aid the process. When clearing snow from private property, please remember not to push snow onto public roads.

Residents are also reminded to be prepared for any possible emergency, including extreme weather events, by having a home emergency preparedness kit including enough food, water and prescription medication for at least 72 hours. When travelling it is advised to stock a vehicle emergency kit. Learn more on our Emergency Preparedness page.
