Lambton Shores Receives $1.3 Million in Provincial Infrastructure Funding
The Municipality Lambton Shores has received $1,368,750 in provincial funding through the Municipal Housing Infrastructure Program – Health and Safety Water Stream. The funding will support the building rehabilitation project at the Arkona Sewage Treatment Facility.
The provincial funding program supports municipalities in building and upgrading infrastructure that enables housing development and protects existing communities. The Health and Safety Water Stream provides funding to address critical water, wastewater, storm water, and flood or erosion infrastructure needs.
The approved funding will support upgrades to the Arkona Sewage Treatment Facility, including rehabilitation of the effluent building, replacement of aging filtration equipment, and related electrical and mechanical upgrades. These improvements will help ensure reliable operation of the facility, support future growth in the community, and improve the quality of treated water leaving the facility.
“This is a critical infrastructure project in our community, and we appreciate the province’s support to complete these improvements this year,” said Lambton Shores Mayor Doug Cook. “This investment helps ensure the Arkona facility continues to meet the needs of our residents while supporting future growth in our community.”
The total estimated cost of the project is $1,875,000. The provincial funding will support up to 73 per cent of the project costs, with the remaining $506,250 financed through the Municipality’s Wastewater Reserve Fund.
