Lambton Shores Retains Blue Flag Status for 17th Consecutive Year
The Municipality of Lambton Shores is proud to share that the Grand Bend Beach, Grand Bend Marina, and Port Franks Marina have all earned the prestigious Blue Flag Canada designation for the 17th consecutive year. In 2025, the Blue Flag designation was awarded to only 16 beaches and nine marinas in Canada.
The Blue Flag designation is an international award given to beaches and marinas that meet high environmental, safety, and cleanliness standards. The Blue Flag continues to be an important symbol for Canadians looking for memorable beach and marina experiences this summer, with a record number of Canadians visiting Blue Flag destinations last year.
More information about Lambton Shores’ Blue Flag designation can be found on the Lambton Shores website.
A complete list of Canada’s Blue Flag beaches and marinas can be found in the Swim Drink Fish news release.
About Blue Flag
Blue Flag is an award program for environmentally-friendly beaches, boats, and marinas. Swim Drink Fish proudly operates Blue Flag Canada on behalf of Blue Flag International and the Foundation for Environmental Education. Swim Drink Fish took over the program from Environmental Defence in early 2020.
With thousands of kilometres of shoreline, Canada is home to many world-class waterfront destinations. The Blue Flag program recognizes communities working hard to promote swimmable, drinkable, fishable water. A Blue Flag tells you a beach or marina is managed sustainably, is accessible, and has high-quality services and safety procedures. Blue Flag beaches also actively monitor water quality.
Blue Flag beaches meet 33 criteria across four categories: Environmental Education and Information; Water Quality; Environmental Management; and, Safety and Services.
Blue Flag marinas meet 38 criteria across six categories: Environmental Education and Information; Environmental Management; Safety and Services; Water Quality; Corporate Social Responsibility; and Social and Community Involvement.
